God can be trusted.
Lately, I've been really struggling with how I can juggle all the roles and responsibilities God has called me to.
As a wife, a mom, a friend, a teacher at home and at church, a Bible study leader, a blogger, a freelance writer, and most importantly, a child of God, I wear a lot of different hats.
Often times I feel like I'm constantly changing costume and wonder if I'm ever going to get anything done or if anything I'm doing really matters. It's discouraging to say the least.
{Can you relate, or is it just me?}
As I plan for a new school year and look at the activity-filled calendar, I sigh:
How am I going to do all this?
Should I be trying to do it all?
Does God really want me to ______?
And as the questions pour out of me, the doubts creep in. Even though I know in my heart God has called me to each of these priorities, I question how I can do it all.
And as I cry out to the Lord, immediately I hear His response:
"You can't do it all, but I can."
In Isaiah 28:16, the Lord God says:
"Eternal One: See here, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone—
a cornerstone, chosen and precious—for a firm foundation.
Whoever trusts in it will never be disgraced." [The Voice]
God can be trusted.
Satan wants us to doubt. He instills fear into our hearts and minds, and as insecurities begin to set in, we begin to question ourselves and even God.
It's then that we have to remember who Satan is and flee from him quickly. We have to run to Jesus. We must rest in His promises that what He calls us to, He will see through. It may not look like we want it to. But God has not called us to do anything that we can't do--even if it may seem un-doable or more than we can bear.
So, this morning, as I pray over my priorities, I'm trusting that God is faithful and that He can be trusted with every aspect of my meager little life.
If we rely on Him, we "will not be put to shame nor be disappointed in His expectations" (Romans 9:33b). He will see us through.
God can be trusted.

My husband and I were just talking about this the other night. I think it's in Hebrews, but it says we must put our anchor, which is our hope, in Christ. I don't know why we're tempted to take on all these worries on our own, but you're right, we can't do it, but God can. :)
ReplyDeleteJillian, I think you're referring to Hebrews 6:19 that says: "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure." This hope is that God's purpose is unchanging (verse 17): He gives us a confident hope that He will carry through His promises, just as He did with Abraham. Thank You, Lord, for never changing and for being the only One we can trust in.

ReplyDeleteI am trusting Him to change a hard heart. My husband walked away from the Lord about a year ago, and he decided to leave for a little while. He is back for the time being, and I am believing that God can and will allow him to come to a place of brokenness and total repentance, and restoration! And God has used this time to keep breaking me of sinful habits and pride. It has been so freeing to know that my responsibility is to trust and obey the Lord and being loving and respectful to my husband - and let Him take care of everything else! :)
This verse is taped to my fridge and plastered on my heart:
You will keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on You,
because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
[Isaiah 26:3-4]
And I also have this written down as a reminder: John 15:5 & Philippians 4:13 - the contrast! I can do NOTHING apart from Him, but through Him I can do all things in His strength - there is so much liberty there. When He calls, He accomplishes. Amazing!
Lisha, I am praying for you today. As you said, the freedom God gives when we turn everything over to Him and relinquish our pride is life-changing. It liberates us because apart from Him, we can do nothing. He alone can soften your husband's heart towards Him. He alone can break you of your pride. He alone can restore your marriage.
